이 녀석은 땅속줄기의 비늘조각이 난형이며, 한 가지 갈색이고, 잎자루는 비교적 짧지만 명확한 반면,
일엽초는 줄기의 비늘조각이 중앙부와 주변부가 색깔이 다른 두 가지 색으로 되어 있고,
짧은 잎자루가 대개 명확하지 않으므로 구별된다. 제주도를 제외한 전국 산지에 분포한다.
