꽃은 8-9월에 피고 백색이며 원줄기 끝과 가지끝의 복산형화서에 달리고
총산경의 윗부분과 소산경 및 소화경의 안쪽에 잔돌기가 있으며
소산경은 길이 3-8cm로서 30-40개이고 소화경은 길이 7-18mm이며 소총포는 실처럼 가늘다
높이 60-90cm이고 곧게자라며 원줄기는 엽병과 더불어 검은 빛이 도는 자주색이고 전체에 털이 없다.
근생엽과 밑부분의 잎은 엽병이 길며 털이 없고
엽병 밑부분이 긴 엽초로 되며 삼각형이고 길이 10-25cm로서 3개씩 1-3회 우상으로 갈라진다.
소엽은 길이 5-10cm로서 가장자리에 예리한 톱니가 있으며 깊게 3개로 갈라진다. 잎 표면은 녹색으로 윤기가 있다.
