전국적으로 저지대에 분포하는 귀화종이다
원추화서는 개방형으로 1차 가지는 아래쪽에서 돌려나고 가지가 아주 구불구불하고 화축에 잔털이 있다.
자주색을 띠는 소수가 3개씩 묶음으로 달리는데 드물게 1~2개의 소수쌍이 더 달리기도 한다.
