이 녀석은 이제사 화서를 내밀고 있다.
높은 산의 양지바른 바위 위나 바위틈, 등산로 주변에서 자라는 녀석이다.
전초에 퍼진 털이 많은 유난히 밝은 잎을 가지고 있다.
가장 위의 작은이삭에는수꽃만 달리고, 긴 대가 있으며, 길이 5~8mm로 원기둥 모양이다.
암꽃으로만 구성된 작은이삭은 대부분 잎이 달리는 아래에서 나고 긴 대가 있다. 길이는 5~10cm이다.
수꽃의 인편은 적갈색, 암꽃의 인편은 짙은 적갈색이고 끝이 짧은 까락으로 된다.
씨방을 둘러싼 과낭은 인편보다 길고 타원형으로 4~5mm이며 아랫부분이 자루처럼 된다.
과낭 표면에는 털이 있고 부리는 짧고, 밋밋하다. 암술머리는 세 개로 갈라진다.
