지나는 길에 들르긴 했지만 너무 늦은 시기가서 기대를 하지 않았었다.
몇 년 전보다 환경이 많이 변해있었다.
왕김의털로 추정되는 벼과 식물이 해안 사면을 꽉 채우고 있어서
해국이며 섬갯쑥부쟁이의 세력도 많이 위축되어 있었는데,
섬쥐깨풀이야 말할 것도 없이 작은 개체를 찾기조차 쉽지 않았다.
해국 무리 속에서 겨우 고개를 내밀고 있는 섬쥐깨풀을 찾긴했지만
이미 잎이 누렇게 변하기 시작하고 있었고 대부분 열매라, 한 두 송이 꽃을 찾아서 떨어질까 봐 애면글면 촬영을 했다.
꽃은 백색이다
줄기는 곧게 자라며 네모지고 높이 15~40cm, 가지가 많이 갈라지며
옆으로 퍼진 털이 있으며 특히 마디에 빽빽하게 난다.
잎은 마주나며 좁은 난형 또는 넓은 난형으로 길이 2~4cm, 폭 1.0~2.5cm, 끝은 뾰족하고
밑은 쐐기 모양으로 좁아지며 가장자리에 둔한 톱니가 있고 양면에 샘점과 긴 흰 털이 있다.
