8월의 숲에 늦둥이 광릉갈퀴가 외롭다.
총상화서는 엽액에서 나오며 길이 2-4cm로서 긴 화경 끝에 꽃이 한쪽으로 치우쳐서 달리고
꽃은 6-7월에 피며 길이 12-15mm로서 홍자색이다. 꽃받침은 통형이고 끝이 얕게 갈라진다.

높이 80-100cm이며 곧추 자라고 네모진 원줄기의 윗부분에서 가지가 갈라지며 약간 짧은 털이 있다.
잎은 호생하고 3-7쌍의 소엽으로 구성된 우수우상복엽으로서 덩굴손이 짧은 돌기같은 흔적으로 된다.
소엽은 피침형이며 길이 2-6cm, 나비 8-10mm로서 끝이 점차 가늘어지고 미부분이 둔하며 탁엽은 삼각형 비슷하고 날카로운 톱니가 있다.
