조각자나무(콩과 주엽나무속) 어린 열매 Gleditsia sinensis Lam.

주엽나무는 자생하는데 비하여 조각자나무는  중국원산으로 국내에는 드물게 식재하기도 한다.

주엽나무 열매는 뒤틀려꼬이며 가시가 약간 납작한데 비하여

조각자나무 열매는 곧거나 약간 뒤틀리며 가시는 단면이 둥글고 자방 밑부분에 털이 밀생한다.

 

천연기념물 115호로 지정된 옥산서원의 조각자나무이다
